Through the federally-funded Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) administered by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, CHP Weatherization reduces energy costs for families and individuals by improving the energy efficiency of their homes, while also assessing and eliminating related health and safety issues.
First, our Energy Solutions team completes a site-specific energy audit of a home that includes blower-door-directed air leakage diagnostics, heating system safety and efficiency diagnostics, duct leakage diagnostics, and insulation needs. Next, we perform necessary repairs and improvements to the home’s mechanical systems and install energy-saving measures in the house, such as improved insulation and air sealing.
Households are typically qualified based on income, and recipients must be Virginia residents. A family of four qualifies at $80,403 or less in household income. See Department of Housing and Community Development income limits for other household sizes below. Priority is given to households with elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and children. Please contact us to see if you qualify.
