The Research and Training Center extends the knowledge and skills of the Energy Solutions team to weatherization and energy efficiency professionals across the country. We offer building science and energy conservation education and certifications and were one of the first Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) accredited training programs in the nation.
Through the Training Center's education programs, energy professionals gain expert training in the creation of healthier, safer, more energy-efficient living and working environments. Since 1999, the Training Center has reached more than 40,000 students across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America.
Our experienced team of BPI, RESNET, and EarthCraft-certified trainers provides online and instructor-led courses at CHP’s state-of-the-art, 12,600-square-foot facility. Technicians are taught practices and techniques that test and reduce energy consumption, address health and safety concerns, and determine how the building shell, appliances, and occupants interact with one another.
We offer preparatory courses for certification exams in the building science industry, as well as continuing education credits, refresher classes, and how-to training for a hands-on experience. CHP's trainers are also qualified to proctor certification exams, and the Training Center is equipped with the tools and labs required for that process. Classes are available online, in the classroom, and/or in the field.
The House of Pressure is a nationally recognized prop that visually demonstrates home performance testing with pressure diagnostics. Training centers, community colleges, and technical colleges in 43 states and Canada have purchased the House of Pressure, and it has been used at regional and national conferences.
