Community Housing Partners (CHP) is excited to share that the 2024 CHP Votes campaign is underway! First launched in 2020, CHP Votes is a nonpartisan initiative aimed at educating both residents and employees about the importance of civic engagement and empowering them to make their voices heard through voting.

Spanning CHP’s network of communities and offices across six states, the campaign emphasizes the vital role voting plays in shaping public policy on issues like affordable housing, public transportation, education funding, and criminal justice reform. By making informed voting choices, individuals can influence the policies that directly impact their daily lives and communities.

“At CHP, we believe that civic engagement is a crucial aspect of community development,” explained Stacy Taylor, CHP’s Resident Services Program Developer. “By providing voter registration and educational programming through CHP Votes, we’re helping residents take ownership of the future they want to see.”

This year, CHP has also partnered with Nonprofit Vote, an organization that provides nonpartisan resources to help nonprofits integrate voter engagement into their ongoing activities and services. Through this partnership, CHP received posters, stickers, and voter registration guides, as well as a grant to fund several registration events.

A key focus of the 2024 campaign is ensuring voter registration accessibility. In Baltimore, CHP staff members have even become certified to register voters in support of this effort. Residents of CHP communities will find voter registration tables and resources available during September events, along with timely updates and details in community newsletters.

As the campaign moves further into October, attention will shift to educating voters on why their participation matters. Resources, local transportation options, and partnerships providing free bus passes will be highlighted to ensure voters can access the polls with ease.
